Charleston CPW Boil Water Notice

Dateline May 25, 2004

Mount Pleasant Waterworks Customers Urged to Conserve Water

A boil water advisory issued earlier today by Charleston CPW does not affect Mount Pleasant Waterworks (MPW) customers.

MPW crews responded immediately to the CCPW advisory yesterday by closing off the supply valve from CCPW at I-526 on the Wando River.

General Manager Clay Duffie said MPW customers are urged to conserve water in the next few days as CCPW continues to monitor its advisory status. Duffie said MPW has adequate water storage for drinking, reverse osmosis treatment capacity and water stored in its Aquifer Storage and Recovery Wells to handle current demands, but excessive water use such as irrigation should be held off until later this week.

SCDHEC, MPW, and CCPW officials have conferred and agree that a boil water advisory is not needed for the MPW service area.
